Five qualify for state carnival

STUDENTS from Warracknabeal Secondary College continued their high achievements in school sport when they competed at the Grampians Region Athletics Carnival in Ballarat on May 4.
The school ended up with a total of 29 students competing, all of who displayed a high level of endeavour in their events at Ballarat.
Out of the 44 events Warracknabeal students competed in, they placed in the top three in 25 of them, which included 10 firsts, and six broken records.
Competitors had to place first to get through to the state championships, which will be held in October, with five students qualifying.
Warracknabeal secondary College sport teacher Dale Shannon said an excellent achievement was seen on the day with Isaac Miller who qualified in three events, Chloe Bibby in three events, Claudia Miller in two events and Isaac Miller and Joshua McPherson one event each.
“Congratulations to all students involved and we wish them all the best when they compete at state level later in the year,” Mr Shannon said.
