Golfers pay tribute to Carol

WARRACKNABEAL golfers competed in a memorial event on Wednesday, in memory of cherished friend and devoted golfer Carol Vincent.
A number of golfers from Warracknabeal, Horsham, Minyip, Stawell, Natimuk, Brim, Hopetoun, Birchip and Sheep Hills congregated at the Warracknabeal Golf Course for the well known golf bracelet event.
With 16 pairs keen to take home the win, the ninth annual Carol Vincent Memorial Gold Bracelet Four Ball Best Ball Stableford was tightly contested.
The eventual winners were D. Barling and L. Saunders, 46 points ahead of runners up H. Crabtree and V. Hinkley, on a countback from J. Obst and R. Gebert, and J. McPherson and K. Skinner, all 40.
Nearest-the-pins: Warrack Hot Bread fifth: C. Ellis; Cafe Pharmacino seventh: P. Irwin; National Australia Back 13th: L. Boyle.
Shirley Leirsch nine out: B. Appledore and M. Wardle, 21; Doctor Toni Nohra nine in: C. Wilson and J. Bibby, 24 points on a countback from J. Phelan and C. Ellis.
Next week golfers will compete in a three person ambrose, draw for partners. Next year will be the last Carol Vincent Memorial Stableford when it reaches it’s 10th and final year.
