ONE of the harshest race meetings in recent history was dominated by the Salanitri-Holland combination which overshadowed the usual Weir-Yendall success during Sunday’s race meeting at Warracknabeal. The meet, originally scheduled for Bendigo, was marred by cold, wintry conditions, which also kept visitor numbers down. Starting with a soft seven, following heavy rain early in the day, the track was downgraded to heavy eight after race two.

However, unpleasant weather aside, the meet proved a good one for jockey Dean Holland, who only resumed riding in Australia last week after spending time in Korea, when he won four races, including a dead heat in race one.
