WARRACKNABEAL CFA were called to a structural house fire at 60 Anderson at 1.45pm Thursday September 27th afternoon following the discovery of smoke billowing from the residence.

The older-style weather board house, belonging to Kat Fieldman and Hilary Willowsmith was fully engaged on their arrival but fortunately no one was inside at the time.

Three units from the local CFA brigade attended the scene and fire-fighters had to use breathing apparatus due to the thick smoke with additional BA air cylinders brought in by District 17 support personnel.

The area was blocked off by Police and Council staff at the Anderson and Lyle Streets intersection and again at Milbourne Avenue and Anderson Street intersection. It appears the house was completely destroyed in the blaze with the roof collapsing as the fire brigade were desperately attempting to extinguish the fire.

Powercor also arrived on the scene to disconnect power from the residence.

At the time of going to press the fire fighters were still mopping up hot spots throughout the house and there was no indication as to how the fire started.
Investigations will commence as soon as the scene is declared safe to do so.
