Yarriambiack roads up for review
According to survey data, residents top concern is the state of rural roads, over than any other issue in Yarriambiack Shire.

Now, council wants to prioritise its road repair program, and is asking for public feedback and comments before finalising a new Road Hierarchy as part of the new Road Management Plan.
"Council covers an area of 7158 square kilometres, with an approximate population of 6556 people, and we maintain 4824kms of roads," council CEO Tammy Smith said.
"Our road network is almost equivalent in kilometres from Wellington, New Zealand, to Coolgardie, Western Australia.
"When considering the breadth of our network, the Road Hierarchy is an important document to classify how we prioritise and maintain our roads."
Developed following a 2022 public consultation, the Road Heirachy helps council categorise roads based on their significance to the community to determine a suitable standard of service for every road in its network.
This latest review - Stage 2 of the Road Hierarchy consultation process - needs community feedback on road classifications and a proposed list of roads to be upgraded, downgraded, recommended for future review, or with no further action recommended or required.
The proposed document includes recommended upgrades for Yarto Silo South, Jollys Road, Sawpit Swamp Road, Barrabool Road and Loeligers Road.
Golf Hill Road and Boundary Road have been recommended for future review.
More details are available on council’s website through its Have Your Say portal.
"If members of the community would like a hard copy of the documents, they are welcome to contact the customer service team, who will arrange the printing and posting to accommodate their request," Ms Smith said.
The consultation period is now open and will close on August 2.
