Ararat continue dominance into round five

Ladder leaders in Ararat continued on their dominant way on Saturday, recording a 52-point win over Southern Mallee Thunder in round five of the Wimmera Football Netball League.

Final scores were Ararat 13.11 (89) to the Thunder 5.7 (37).

Ararat got off to a great start, leading at the end of the first quarter 4.4 (28) while holding Thunder to 1.2 (8).

Ararat continued their dominance in the following quarter, limiting their opposition to just a point but piling on 5.1 themselves for the term.

After Ararat were up by 50 points at half-time, the last half of the match was more of an even tussle, with Ararat adding 4.6 to their score and the losing side 4.4.

Leading goal kickers for the game were for Ararat, Henry Shea with three, and for Thunder, Angus McSweyn, who booted a couple of majors.

Better players were Hugh Toner and James Hosking (Ararat) and Bailey Morrish and Billy Lloyd (Thunder).
