Ararat secure narrow victory against the Thunder

It's been the most asked question this season: Can anyone defeat Ararat, and if so, which side is capable?

That question wasn't answered on Saturday, but the Thunder certainly came closer than any other team this season to finding a solution to beating the ladder leaders.

In conditions that were muddy and wet, perhaps it's no surprise the Southern Mallee played so well, considering where there is rain, there can be Thunder.

At the end of the first quarter, Ararat held the lead by just a point.

By half-time, it was level pegging, and heading into the final quarter, Ararat had the advantage by just a couple of points.

In the end, it was Ararat that were the better finishers, claiming the win 10.10 70 to 6.9 45.

But even the scores don't reflect the true closeness of the match, according to fans at the game.

For the home side, the coach himself in Delahunty, was best on field, along with Brayden Ison and Lou White.

For the winners, their side was led by Ben Taylor and Harry Ganley, along with Henry Shea.
