A highlight of the meeting was the presentation of a cheque for $28,000 to Grampians Health palliative care nurses, Jody Membrey and Maire Coffey, by president Lesley Lane.

"This tops up the amount to $50,000, which we donate for the year to be used for leasing essential medical equipment for clients palliating at home," said publicity officer Lea Crammond.

The service provided by the small but dedicated group is free, with no cost to the patient or family.

"Apart from the annual donation, we also continue to purchase any required equipment to update or replace as necessary," she said.

"The team considers the work we do for the Palliative care team a real privilege and is pleased to support our local communities."

All funds raised by Wimmera Hospice Care Auxiliary are used to support the local communities, keeping patients in their own homes as long as possible.

All funds raised remain in the four Wimmera municipalities of Horsham Rural City, Hindmarsh, West Wimmera, and Yarriambiack.

The newly elected executive had lunch at the Horsham RSL after the meeting.
