Bombers community relishing premiership chance

The chance of a seniors football premiership is a significant achievement for Noradjuha Quantong’s players, and it means just as much to the loyal community of individuals and families who have dedicated years to the club.

Since Noradjuha and Quantong merged back in 1997, the club has been waiting for its first senior football premiership.

Last year, the side came close in a 13-point loss to Harrow Balmoral in last year’s grand final, but after taking out the minor premiership in 2025, there is a strong belief that this could be the year.

And it would be difficult for a premiership to mean more to anyone than it would to Wes Howard, a lifetime member and volunteer at the club.

Howard is a Quantong local who has helped out at the club for more than 20 years, filling the drinks of all football teams.

“I just live up the road from the club and I come to training every Tuesday and Thursday,” Howard said.

“I fill up the drink bottles for the boys, cook them dinner every Tuesday, and the boys love it.

“I’m happy that they’ve made the grand final. They’ve had a great year, and it’d be nice to win the premiership, along with the other teams.”

Jason Kerr and Brent McIntyre, the current coaches of the reserves football side, have both had long careers at the club and are excited about the opportunity to win the first seniors' premiership.

“This is home to me, I grew up out here,” Kerr said.

“I would have started playing for the club in the junior competition when it started in 1999, and I’m still going.

“A senior premiership is all I’m after, and that’s why I’m still playing to this day.”

“I started playing for Quantong in 1995 and have been out here pretty much all of my life,” McIntyre said.

“With the amount of supporters we have for the seniors, it would be great to see a senior flag, and as the first one, it would be a fantastic effort.

“There’s some pressure on the guys, but they’ve been in a couple of grand finals, learned every year, and they’re a good chance to win.”

Kerr and McIntyre identified some of the many families that have supported the club and made significant contributions to the club over the years, including the Kelly, Oakley, Wilson, Price, and Dunlop families.

“It would be massive for them,” McIntyre said.

“A win would be a reward for all they’ve done.“
