Burras scrape over the line

It came down to the wire in the game between Minyip Murtoa and Southern Mallee on Saturday, with the Burras getting over the line by just a couple of points.

The Burras scored 1.3 to the Thunder's 3.2 in the first quarter, and 3.1 to 2.4 in the quarter before half-time.

Down by eight points at half-time, the Burras had a better quarter after the break, booting 5.2 to the Thunder's 3.1.

After playing catch-up until quarter three, Minyip Murtoa went into the final term with a five-point lead, but the Thunder weren't done for, and gave it their best shot in the final quarter before going down 11.11 (77) to 11.9 (75).

Liam Kidd was the highest goal scorer for the Burras, with four, while the Thunder were led by Reid Polak, who booted three.

Better players were Kade Petering and Liam Kidd for Minyip Murtoa and Angus Dewar and Jarrod Stokes for the Thunder.
