BARRY'S CORNER: Celebrate once a day
We would be particularly busy people if we celebrated each day or week of merriment as suggested by lots of organisations.

No doubt we would learn a fair bit. I refer to these nominations such as the day of the dragon, the horse, snake, lizards, fungi, the farmer and the list is endless and goes right away into the distance, so there is plenty to get excited about.
The annual Wimmera Biodiversity forum is on again at Dimboola Golf club on the first Thursday of September 2025.
This function has been running for close to three decades and is still as relevant today as it proved when it started.
Who would have thought little old Wimmera could have sustained such a discussion for so long.
I think it shows the interest in wildlife, our surroundings and how the world works. Book early to save a seat.
This forum fits into the support of Science Week. Even if your qualifications are not in the sciences there will be many discussions that will explain processes, new ideas, advances and new studies.
There is always new researches taking place but we do not hear much about them unless there is a direct contact between families or work colleagues.
It would be good to hold a presentation once the study has progressed and suggestions are to be put into place.
Holding special days can draw attention to the topic and can get people who work in isolation more ideas and boost them up a bit if things are not going to plan.
Sometimes it presents a huge topic and we are still learning as research rolls along.
The algal bloom in the surf along the South Australian coast is not a good sign.
Various algae happens through a lot of waterways and it is not only warm water that can set a bloom off and it can happen at any time of the year.
Having such a bloom in the sea killing lots of marine life is a tragedy of a high order and almost impossible to deal with.
Some farm dams, and various waterways cop an algal bloom at odd times and the water can be made toxic.
So not to be handled or allow the dogs or the kids anywhere near it.
There are many challenges to be worked at over the right time.
