With the event following the theme of 'Creatures of the Night', the seminar will begin at lunchtime, allowing participants to take part in an evening tour at Snape Reserve, guided by Trust for Nature.

Continuing without a break for 28 years, the Wimmera Biodiversity Seminar has brought knowledge, experience, research, practical applications, revelations and many fascinating conversations to the Wimmera region.

"Twenty-eight years and still going strong, our audience knows that we work hard to present an amazing day of information, entertainment, and for this event, illumination as well," committee member La Vergne Lehmann said.

Attendees will see six presentations throughout the afternoon with speakers touching on microbats, bioluminescent fungi, the brains of spiders in a world of light pollution and the tail of the squirrel glider.

"These speakers will provide some fascinating insights into what happens when the sun goes down and these animals, fungi and plants come out to play," Ms Lehmann said.

They will also receive a unique, handmade mug crafted by local artist Wendy McInnes of Wartook Pottery.

"We love being able to support small communities by bringing the event there and, in the case of Dimboola, it is after the recent January fires," Ms Lehmann said.

This year's logo, poster and program have been created by Laticia Shanaughan, a Wimmera local who is currently studying for a Bachelor of Environmental Science and Conservation at Federation University.

Registrations are now open with tickets already selling fast.

DEECA, Wimmera CMA, Bank Australia, Hindmarsh Shire Council, Barengi Gadjin Land Council, Yarriambiack Shire Council, Horsham Rural City Council, Grampians Wimmera Mallee Water and Trust for Nature are supporting agencies for the event.
