Hopetoun P-12 College Open Day
On Friday, September 19, the final day of Term 3, Hopetoun P-12 College welcomed in the school community for the first Open Day.

Attended by parents, families, and Corrong residents, there was a range of faces in the crowd, all excited to see what students had been learning over the course of the year.
The day's event began with an opening speech by Principal Rhiannon Smith and College captains, Lana and Issy, addressing the foci for the day, showcasing student work, having glimpses into classrooms, and connecting with staff.
They also highlighted the range of learning opportunities students have participated in this year and the hard work of the school community in maintaining a supportive and rich education environment.
Next, Mars was welcomed to the stage to introduce Song Room, a program dedicated to fostering wellbeing and engagement through music and dance.
The primary students were excited to share their skills after practising all term. Mars led the ukulele and singing based performances, with the 3-6 class playing their rendition of ‘Don’t Worry, Be Happy’, followed by the P-2 class with a simplified version of ‘Frere Jacques’.
With entertainment concluded, the crowd dispersed to explore. Vibrant displays of student work were spread throughout the building, showcasing open classrooms, writing samples in the Writers’ Festival, maths projects, science experiments, artwork, and furniture built, amongst a range of other learning.
There was plenty of engaging conversation between guests, students, and teachers, all emphasising the dedication to student learning.
It was wonderful to see how proud students were of their learning and enthusiastically showing their special guests what they had created.
A big thank you must be extended to the Year 7s (and CJ as head chef), who cooked up a morning tea feast.
All the food was delectable, with the homemade sausage rolls being a crowd favourite.
Thank you to our community for your support of such a wonderful event.
Your interest in our school and the education of our students is invaluable, and we thoroughly enjoyed sharing our learning journey with you. We hope to see you all next year.
