On October 14, Hopetoun P-12 College’s Grade 5 and 6’s, alongside students from Rainbow, St Joseph, Beulah and Jeparit, embarked on their school camp adventures to the state capital, Melbourne.

Students were itching to get off the bus to get to witness some of the most recognisable animals from all over the world at the iconic Melbourne Zoo.

What a way to start the trip! Later that night, one of the tallest skyscrapers Melbourne has to offer was awaiting their arrival, the Melbourne Skydeck.

Being 285m in the air didn’t bother our students though, as they loved the views of the city lights at night.

The following morning, another action packed day was set: Melbourne Aquarium to watch the majestic sea life, Scienceworks/ Planetarium Museum for all things Science related, where they were also treated to a River Cruise.

However, the most highlights from the day occurred from the highly anticipated Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre (MSAC), where the students tested their coordination and balance against the wipeout course or contained their nerves as they jumped off some high platforms at the Aquatic Centre.

Day three provided the students with some of the most iconic landmarks Melbourne has to offer, which involved a tour of the largest sporting stadium in the southern hemisphere, the MCG.

Students witnessed some of the best artworks around at the Australian Centre of Contemporary Art and explored the astonishing Shrine of Remembrance.

To finish off the day, the students relaxed with a movie and popcorn to enjoy.

The very last activity of the Grade 5 and 6’s week was attending one of the most famous locations in the city, the remarkable Queen Victoria Markets.

Students experienced a unique style of shopping culture and enjoyed some divine food.

This wrapped up the jam-packed week, which provided many laughs and memories for all students and staff.

Colour Run

On Friday, October 10, our SRC hosted their annual major event, the ‘Colour Run’.

The highly anticipated event provided amusement for everyone who participated, but not only that, it will continue to provide excitement through the funds raised.

With $450 generated on the day, the money will go directly to the Starlight Foundation, to brighten the lives of seriously ill and hospitalised children.

We would love to thank the SRC for their endless efforts to run such a successful and enjoyable event for the whole community.
