The trio have been regular faces in the district for more than a decade, with Michelle and David visiting for the past 10 years and Alan making the trip for at least 15.

Every visit sees them pitch their tents at Wyperfeld National Park, a place they say feels like a second home.

“We just like the Mallee Desert area,” Mr Easdon said.

“We used to bring the kids up here when they were younger, and we liked going on the walks out in the national park.

“The camping area is just a pleasant place to be.”

Mr Easdon said they usually visit at Easter but decided to come up in September this year to enjoy the early spring weather.

“It’s nice and quiet, peaceful,” he said.

“We all like to wind down after being wound up in Melbourne.”

The group also makes time to explore other attractions in the region, including Rainbow, Sea Lake and Lake Lascelles.

“We usually visit Rainbow — we’ll go to the pub there for dinner one night and use the shop to buy some groceries,” he said.

Over the years, Mr Easdon has noticed how the town has stayed welcoming and well-kept.

“We’re very thankful to the Hopetoun community,” he said.

“Even through COVID, the businesses have been able to retain their business and flourish.

“It’s neat, tidy, and it’s a nice place to see.”

Mr Pearse said the local stores have been beneficial for them over the years.

“We have been coming for over 10 years,” he said.

“Bow bakery and fish and chips shops are two of our favourites.

“The Hopetoun’s hardware store is very handy, as we found almost everything we need for camping.”

Michelle, David and Alan will spend seven days in the area on this trip, once again camping at Wyperfeld and enjoying the familiar rhythm of Hopetoun life.
