Newcombe picks up double win
Warracknabeal Gun Club held its monthly shoot on Saturday in good conditions.
The first event for the day was a 40-target double-barrel championship.
The overall and AA grade winner was Mark Newcombe with a perfect score of 40/40.
The runner-up to Newcombe was Eric Yetman from PEtchewollock, shooting 39/40.
A grade was won by Peter Mellington from Horsham and Bruce Dean and Nick Seipolt from Hopetoun each shot 37/40 as runners-up.
B grade saw Russell Black shoot 38/40.
Runners-up Lucas Hallam from Hopetoun and Gary Pike both shot 36/40.
Dennis Hannigan from St Arnaud won C grade, shooting 37/40.
The runner-up to Hannigan was Maurice Smith from Hopetoun on 36/40.
The day's second event was a 40-target point-score cash divide.
AA grade was won by Mark Newcombe with a score of 115/120, ahead of runner-up Roger Lehmann on 109/120.
B grade was won by Gary Pike on 109/120, and the runner-up was Russell Black on 101/120.
In C grade, Horsham shooter Ron Hounsell shot 104/120.
Doug Harris and Denis Hannigan were equal runners-up with 98/120.
