'Outrun the umps' hits the track Saturday
The umpires have again thrown down the gauntlet to the players this weekend, but it's not on the football field.
This Saturday, bragging rights are on the line with the annual 'Outrun the ump' parkrun event in Horsham from 8am.
Multiple ‘Dellar Medalist’ Scott Carey is bringing several Swifts teammates to take on Cam Pickering and the Wimmera Mallee umpires for the annual 'outrun the umps' event at Horsham parkrun.
"The annual event traditionally the week before the first round of football kicks off," Pickering said.
"Seeing fast and slow umpires wear their uniform as a target for parkrunners to push themselves to try and beat."
The ‘players’ currently hold the title, with Carey narrowly pipping Mark ‘Zooma’ Hallam last year.
The run starts at 8am on Saturday, March 29.
