FOOTY and netball players and supporters across the Wimmera are counting down to the long-awaited return of the finals series.
The 2022 Wimmera Football Netball League (WFNL) finals are now just four weeks away, after a two-year hiatus thanks to covid.
“We’re all pretty excited, we can’t wait for it to begin,” WFNL Chairperson Pauline Butler told the Horsham Times.
“Not only the fans, clubs and players, but the broader community too.”
“The clubs did it tough, sport in rural communities is so vital.”
Week one of the finals will kick off with a qualifying final at Dimboola on August 27 and an elimination final at Stawell on August 28.
Two semi-finals will be held the week afterwards, one on September 3 at the Horsham City Oval and the second at Ararat on September 4.
Warracknabeal will host the preliminary final on September 11.
The much-anticipated grand final will be held at Horsham City Oval on September 17.
