Pride on the line

With finals out of the question for both sides, the Burras and the Demons will be playing for a bit of pride in the final round of the regular season on Saturday.

The Horsham side has only one win on the board this season after defeating the Eagles just a couple of weeks ago.

Realistically, though, considering how competitive they have been, they've had some bad luck to have a couple of close games not fall their way.

Minyip Murtoa, up until last week, were right in the hunt for finals, with the blow coming only when they dropped their match against Nhill, combined with Dimboola getting the points over Warrack.

Both sides have their positives to take from the season, though, with the efforts week in week out from Kade Petering seeing him fare well in the league's best player on Play HQ, and Oscar Gawith currently in equal-eighth position on the goal-kicking ladder.

Likewise, the Demons have had their fair share of impressive players this season, with Matthew Long tied with Gawith in goals for the season (31) and Benjamin Janetzki and Mitch Martin both in the top 10 of the league's better players, according to Play HQ.

Last time the sides played was on Saturday June 21 and it was the Burras who asserted their dominance, delivering a 59-point loss to the Demons.

In that game, Gawith led the way for the Burras, finding the big sticks six times, while Samuel Jantzki was the best player for the Horsham side.
