Rainbow Golf Club celebrates newest life members

Last Wednesday at their annual general meeting, members of Rainbow Golf Club awarded well-deserved life memberships to Daryn Clugston and Wayne Nitschke.

Daryn has been the club's treasurer for more years than anyone can really remember.

As any organisation knows, this is a hugely important role but is also one that is done with little recognition.

Daryn has been president in the past, as well as a long-standing member of the committee.

He has contributed countless hours to the upkeep of our grounds and facilities.

Wayne has also held several roles within the club, including being president during its centenary year, as well as being a long-standing committee member.

He has taken on the huge role of leading the grounds committee and is a tireless worker who can often be seen mowing the course, tending the scrapes and doing a wide range of other tasks around the club.

They are both excellent ambassadors for the club.

They are the sort of members who put the club and its other members before themselves.

They put so much more into the club than the get out of it and that is what makes them truly worthy of the honour of being awarded life memberships.

In other club news, the following committee positions have been filled:

- president: Travis Clarke

- secretary: Stephen Leach

- treasurer: Daryn Clugston

- men’s captain: Aaron Glen

- men’s vice-captain: Hamish Hollamby

- ladies’ captain: Helen Fisher

- ladies’ vice-captain: Lynne McKenzie

- handicapper: Pam Clugston.

I wish all these volunteers all the best in these roles for the 2025–26 year.
