'Remarkable' women sought for roll
Mallee MP Jade Benham is encouraging community members to nominate "remarkable" candidates for The Victorian Honour Roll of Women.
The Member for Mildura said the roll would recognise women "demonstrating remarkable leadership and excellence in their field of expertise, interest or endeavour, or through their commitment to the community".
"The program aims to celebrate and elevate the incredible contributions of Victorian women to Victoria, Australia and beyond," Ms Benham said.
Nominations are being sought in four categories:
- change agent
- emerging leader
- local champion
- trailblazer.
To be eligible, all nominees must:
be women (including trans women, sistergirls and gender-diverse people)
have been born in Victoria or have spent a considerable part of their life in the state
have made a significant and lasting contribution at a local, state, national or international level.
Ms Benham said nominating First Nations Women, women living with disability, women of colour, women from culturally and racially marginalised backgrounds, women from the LGBTIQA+ community, and women from regional and rural communities was encouraged.
Nominations will close at 11.59pm on Sunday March 16.
