Sawyer takes bronze at school nationals
Jack Sawyer has come away with a bronze medal in the medley relay at the School Sport Australia Track and Field Championships, held in Canberra between November 27 and 30.
The Horsham West and Haven Primary School student represented Victoria in the under-12s age group in both the 200m and the medley relay.
Victoria claimed the bronze medal in 1 minute and 52.03 seconds, behind New South Wales and South Australia.
Sawyer also competed in the individual 200m, where he placed third in his heat to advance to the final, where he finished seventh.
The 12-year-old said it was a great experience competing against the best young athletes in Australia on a rare Mondo synthetic track at the Australian Institute of Sport.
“It was really fun,” Sawyer said.
“It was a different style of track, so that was cool to run on.”
