St Joseph’s School was filled with joy and laughter last week as students warmly welcomed around 80 guests for Grandparents and Special Friend’s Day, a celebration that coincided with the Feast Day of Saints Joachim and Anne, the grandparents of Jesus.

The day began with a student-led liturgy in the church, where prayers, readings and reflections honoured the important role that grandparents and special friends play in the lives of young people.

The liturgy highlighted themes of love, guidance, and the passing on of faith and family traditions through generations.

Following the liturgy, guests were invited to tour classrooms, where students proudly shared their work and showcased the learning that takes place each day.

The school was buzzing with conversation and connection as visitors and students spent quality time together.

The morning concluded with a shared morning tea, bringing the school community together for a relaxed and joyful gathering, with many guests commenting on how special it was to be invited into the life of the school.

Principal Cynthia Maiden said, “Today was a beautiful reminder of the strong bonds between generations," she said.

"We are so grateful for the love, support and wisdom our grandparents and special friends bring to our students’ lives.”

Grandparents and Special Friend’s Day has become a much-loved tradition at St Joseph’s, and this year’s celebration was no exception, filled with warmth, gratitude and cherished memories.
