A Mum's World: Trying not to spiral
Well, I’ve been at sixes and sevens this week, spending the first few days circling around the idea of why someone would want to capture footage of my daughters and I in the dressing rooms at the Horsham Town Hall?

Well, I’ve been at sixes and sevens this week, spending the first few days circling around the idea of why someone would want to capture footage of my daughters and I in the dressing rooms at the Horsham Town Hall?
How could it be pleasing to watch fast costume changes, females climbing into leotards and adjusting tutus then fixing their hair?
I don’t like to be forced to ponder the dark web or feel sad that some people become addicted to watching the private moments of others without their permission.
It’s uncomfortable to believe in monsters because they are unpredictable and dangerous.
I much prefer to find the best in people, so I also spent some time questioning if in a confused mind, surveillance was providing protection for someone?
Was there a thief to catch?
We do find a way to justify our behaviour don’t we, and our minds are quick to confirm our beliefs, filtering reality to back our own personal vision statements.
Mental health is undoubtedly a major issue right across humanity and our current culture isn’t helping improve it.
The internet can connect us all with so much useful information, but it can also link us into a whole lot of useless garbage.
Our current culture is bent on selling the message that everything goes, telling us that all behaviours should be celebrated.
Think about how many movies you’ve seen lately that glorify theft and violence.
Yet our consciences warn us that not all behaviours are right or beneficial.
By the end of the week, it seemed that actual cameras had not been located in the Horsham Town Hall.
Confused again, I wondered what had raised the alarm to begin an investigation.
Was it unauthorised images that had come to light or reported behaviour that could only have been seen if hidden cameras were in place?
I don’t understand what has happened, but I do know that an investigation is underway and when it is finished, we will all know what has transpired.
For now, caring together, we should look after each other and be kind.
By the weekend I felt ready to mentally confront my most recent dressing room activity in the affected location.
As a part of the ensemble for ‘Mamma Mia’ I rushed in and out of the dressing room to change many times during each rehearsal and performance.
Front of mind was my one-piece bathing suit.
In the seaside scene I appeared on stage at the beach reclining on a towel in nothing but some swimming togs.
You can imagine how slightly mortifying it is to think of anyone secretly observing my private preparation for that scene.
Goodness gracious me.
As my singing and dancing daughters are not feeling too stressed about the situation, with their history of Horsham Arts Council, Horsham College and dance school productions, news of the investigation has not been a tragedy of epic proportions for us – just a bit of mental gymnastics and an attempt not to spiral.
